Retractable Roof Brisbane – Mode landscape architects were tasked with the creation of transforming this 865spm Brisbane CBD terrace into a multi-functional space for their client and building owner Daisho. This podium level links two buildings and creates as MODE Director calls an “Urban Oasis amongst the noise and heat of the city”.

Due to its central location it has spectacular views of the surrounding city high rises as well as Kind Edward Park, Kangaroo Point and City Hall. Mode have brought to life the subtropical Queensland environment in a functioning commercial work space, function space and breakout area.

To make the large space usable all year round and to combat the extreme Queensland heat Awning Worx were engaged to deliver a large functional covered area which could be flexible enough to be used in different conditions. The Helioscreen HS20 was used to span a massive 13 metre by 10 metre open Cinema Area. The system was integrated in to a custom steel and timber frame to meet the surrounding soft landscape design. Integrated LED lighting allows ambient light for use at night.
