Awning Worx supplied electric awnings to the well know Brisbane School St Josephs College for their school lunch area in the new St Joseph’s Nudgee College Hanly Learning Centre

As is often the case in building design the full effect of the sun and weather cannot be fully realised until the building becomes occupied. For this school they realised that the low sun coming into the canteen area was causing a huge heat issue for students and staff and they needed a solution which would give the area full functionality.

Installation of two folding arm awnings systems was a solution which allowed the school to provide something which stopped their heat issue but did not require any major new building works or detract from the architect 3M Architecture’s original design brief of keeping this area open and free for students to move around. Folding arm awnings also allow flexibility on how the shade is used. During summer they may be used every day and in winter they can be retracted so people can enjoy the sun when it is not so strong during the cooler days.
